The Shock of the Fall - Book Review
'The shock of the Fall' by Nathan Filer is a great read. I'd bought the book last year and it was just sitting on my shelf, I hadn't got into a book for a while.
Anyway, I picked it up a few months ago and read it within a week. It was gripping, thought-provoking and heartfelt. The book is focused on a character Matthew Holmes and his journey of dealing with the death of his brother and his personal battle with mental illness.
My favourite thing about the book is that it skips the romanticisation of mental health and presents as close to the raw, gritty truth as it can. It's a moving novel and I even shed a tear at one point (which believe me, is rare). The author of the book works as a mental health nurse so has first-hand experience and knowledge which I feel really resignations in the story.
Definitely a good read, I recommend!
Be sure to be keeping peachy,
L xo
